Model predictions for tone detection in white Gaussian noise for the cases NoSπ, NπSo, NoSm, and NπSm, where N and S denote the noise masker and the tonal-signal target, respectively, the subscript o and π denote the interaural phase, and the subscript m stands for the monaural presentation to one ear only. The curves are the theoretical predictions made by Durlach (1972). Although model predictions (symbols) are mean values of simulations with random jitter, the standard errors are so small (about 0.2 dB) that the predicted values are essentially deterministic.
