Figure 8

Effect of copper ions on the enzyme activity of BAC-SubDo-03 cultures. Cultures were allowed to oxidize Mn(II) in the absence (grey bars) or presence (black bars) of copper ions (as CuCl2) up to a concentration of 5 μM added to the medium for 12 hrs at 28 °C. The Mn concentration was determined colorimetrically. The mean values and SDs from five experiments are presented. The increase of the activity caused by Cu ions is significant at all 4 concentrations of CuCl2 used; *P < 0.001.
