The number of bricks that change the magnitude of principal strain between the stiffest and least stiff trials in each of the three sets. Each bone was sampled by 250 bricks. (+) ε1 & ε3 reflects the number of bricks that have increased in both maximum and minimum principal strain, (−) ε1 & ε3 reflects the number of bricks that have decreased in both maximum and minimum principal strain, (+) ε1 (−) ε3 reflects the number of bricks that have increased in maximum principal strain but decreased in minimum principal strain, (−) ε1 (+) ε3 reflects the number of bricks that have decreased in maximum principal strain but increased in minimum principal strain.
