Care-recipient’s hierarchical condition categories (HCC) score was strongly associated with caregiver work productivity loss (P < 0.05) and regular activity productivity loss (P < 0.01). This figure illustrates the dose-response relationship between HCC and productivity loss. Caregivers to the most medically complex recipients (as measured by HCC score) were less than 75% productive at work and in their regular activities.
