Lipid demixing caused by the peptide. Pseudocolor represents deviation of the local concentration of PS (A) and PIP2 (B) from the expected average values indicated in the figure. (A) PIP2 concentration is 0%. (B) PS concentration is 25%. To produce a smooth concentration field, the true values were projected from the sparse hexagonal lipid lattice onto a fine square grid and intermediate values were computed by spline interpolation. Large values corresponding to the lipid positions located directly underneath the peptide nodes (solid circles) have been removed to reveal subtle details.
