GABAAR ε- and δ-subunits are differentially regulated in cortex and medulla across the circannual cycle. A: GABAAR ε-subunit protein expression is increased in punches of VRC during hibernation. Cortical samples (CTX), whole medulla samples, and punches centered on the VRC were analyzed for GABAAR ε-subunit protein expression. GABAAR ε-subunit protein is enriched in the medulla by comparison with the cortex in SA and T animals. GABAAR ε-subunit expression is increased in VRC punches in T compared with SA. An empty lane separates SA and T in the Western blot of VRC punches. B: during hibernation (T and IBA), GABAAR δ-subunit protein is increased in whole medulla lysates by comparison with SA. GAPDH or H2B was used as a loading control.
