Ethnic differences in metabolic syndrome (MetS). Non-Hispanic black (NHB) individuals are more likely to exhibit many of the processes associated with MetS and are more likely to develop adverse health outcomes but are less likely to be diagnosed with MetS. The difference in MetS diagnosis largely rests on a lower prevalence of lipid abnormalities, particularly with respect to triglyceride (TG) levels, in NHB individuals.
