Inaccurate result. The figure shows what happens when the airway tree touches the lung surface (center of the picture) before the hilar region (seen in the high part); because of partial volume effects, the wavefront floods into the lung parenchyma at a wrong place and the stop conditions intervene: some bronchi (pointed to by arrows), that should be segmented and removed, remain as part of the lungs. The white patch is inserted to accurately visualize the bronchus cut.
