The relative number of offspring produced by the strategy of having less offspring but investing more in them (S1) compared with having more but investing less (S2). In the first time step S1 does markedly less well than S2; after that it begins to do better though the proportion of individuals following S1 does not exceed the proportion following S2 until the fifth generation.
