Gas-chromatography, selective reaction monitoring (SRM) tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) of a sample containing 0.1 pg/mL of oestradiol. The long column (∼30 metres) and high temperatures used in GC minimise background, ion suppression, and interferences, and allow the MS/MS to show its full potential in SRM mode.
