Collagen fibrils: (A, B) unmineralized; (C, D) mineralized (1 mM CaCl2 in feed solution); (E, F) mineralized (2.5 mM CaCl2); and (G, H) mineralized (5 mM CaCl2).The fibrils were produced using a pore diameter of200 nm. The insets in (B), (D), (F) and (H) are selected area electron diffraction images showing that the mineral portion is amorphous.
