Characterization of thrombogenic potential of different materials. Adsorption of biotinylated thrombotic pathway proteins thrombin (A) and fibrinogen (B) to silk fibroin and PTFE films. Protein concentrations on each film ranged from 0 to 5 µg/mL and protein adsorption to the films was quantified using an ELISA technique. Platelet adhesion after 30 minute incubation quantified in terms of platelets per square millimeter (C) with images of platelets adherent to the different materials (D).
