Schematic representation of notochord conditioned media experiments undertaken by Korecki et al.. Nucleus pulposus tissue was isolated and the cellular contents were sorted according to size to obtain the large notochord cells. Notochord cells were grown in vitro to generate conditioned media which was then applied to isolated bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells.
