Atropine and bumetanide were added to the serosal fluid and 3-Cl-propionate was added to the mucosal fluid 10 min prior to luminal propionate (1 mm) stimulation. The concentration of ACh in the serosal fluid was measured at 5 min after luminal propionate stimulation. Values are means ±s.e.m. (n= 6–16). Statistical significances of the maximum increases in I_sc and the ACh releases were assessed with one-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett's test. *P < 0.001 compared to the control.
