Schematic representation rendered using LigPlot [61] of the interactions observed between HiMurC and ligands UDP-MurNAc-L-Ala (UMA) and AMPPNP (ANP) in the crystal structure (PDB id 1p3d). The majority of these residues in HiMurC (red labels) ND and MD are structurally conserved in PaMpl (blue labels), suggesting that Mpl and MurC have similar interactions with ATP and UDP-MurNAc.
