Chaperone-assisted refolding of heat-denatured MDH. MDH (1.2 μM) was
99.8% heat-denatured during 30 min at 47°C, either in the absence
(no) or in the presence of 12 μM HSP17. After heat shock (→)
recovery of MDH, activity was followed at 25°C in the presence of ATP
(1 mM), an active ATP-regeneration system, without additional
chaperones (no), or with E. coli DnaK, DnaJ, GrpE,
GroEL, GroES (4, 0.8, 0.4, 4, 5 μM, respectively). The final
concentration of MDH and HSP17 was 1 μM and 10 μM, respectively.
