Viral M1 gene expression was attenuated in SDR-MEM mice during reinfection. A/PR/8 virus gene expression was assessed by real-time PCR using primers and probes for the M1 gene of the influenza virus. The apical lobe of each lung was flash-frozen and processed for PCR analysis. Data are shown from four separate experiments, with n = 9–21 per group each day.
