High shear wave velocity above the ablation may be an artifact, as was observed in the FEA and phantom images. The strain image shows good boundary demarcation where large gradients in the axial direction were present. No ablation boundaries were observed in the B-mode image in (d). A comparison of the boundary delineations in (e) shows good agreement between the gross pathology and shear wave velocity images. The strain image fails to detect the lower left corner of the ablation.
