Phagocytic and bactericidal activities of human neutrophils are increased when pretreated with dextromethorphan. Human neutrophils were cultured with FITC-labeled NZ131 at 37°C for 1 h without or with 5 and 10 μM DM pretreatment. The phagocytic activity (A) and bacterial numbers in the cells (B) were determined for triplicate cultures (*, P < 0.05; ***, P < 0.001).
