Residues important for proteolytic activity are in boldface, putative important residues for Pla subfamily substrate specificity are in marked by an asterisk (13), and the predicted surface-exposed loops determined for OmpT are indicated by L1 to L5 (62). Amino acid residues are numbered according to Pla sequence.
