TABLE 3.
Distribution of fucP and ggt among C. jejuni isolates from turkey, chicken, sheep, and human
| Host species | No. (%) of isolates with indicated genotype/total no. of isolatesa |
|||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| fucP positive, ggt negative | fucP negative, ggt positive | fucP negative, ggt negative | fucP positive, ggt positive | |
| Turkey | 11/23 (47.8) | 7/23 (30.4) | 5/23 (21.7) | 0/23 (0) |
| Chicken | 11/24 (45.8) | 2/24 (8.3) | 11/24 (45.8) | 0/24 (0) |
| Sheep | 12/24 (50.0) | 4/24 (16.7) | 8/24 (33.3) | 0/24 (0) |
| Human | 7/19 (36.8) | 7/19 (36.8) | 3/19 (15.8) | 2/19 (10.5)b |
| Total | 41/90 (45.5) | 20/90 (22.2) | 27/90 (30.0) | 2/90 (2.2) |
For human clinical isolates, genotypes were determined either by PCR or by searching available genome sequences. For other host species, genotypes were determined by PCR.
The only fucP-positive, ggt-positive isolates were the sequenced strains C. jejuni subsp. doylei 269.97 and C. jejuni 1336.
