(A) In response to genotoxic stress, p53 activates its downstream target genes, which subsequently leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Both ING4 and ING5 trigger a p53-mediated effect on cell proliferation. However, in EBV-positive cells, EBNA3C potentially inhibits both ING4- and ING5-mediated p53 transcriptional activity via displacing the interaction among p53, ING4, and ING5.
