Systemic IL-6 level in EV71-infected mouse neonates. Groups of 1-day-old suckling mice were challenged with EV71 strain 41 at a lethal dose of 104 TCID50 per mouse. At days 4, 6, and 9 postinfection (PI), four mice per group per time point were sacrificed, and individual serum samples were collected for IL-6 quantification by ELISA. The results are expressed as the mean ± standard error of the mean of the four serum samples.
