Decorin inhibits Sema3A expression by leptomeningeal fibroblasts via an ErbB-dependent mechanism. Co-treatment of fibroblasts with decorin and PD158780 completely blocked decorin-mediated suppression of Sema3A, confirming an ErbB-dependent mechanism in the ability of decorin to regulate Sema3A expression. Treatment of fibroblasts with PD158780 alone resulted in no significant difference in Sema3A expression compared with saline-treated fibroblasts.
