The antitumor effect of CIM is mediated by CD8+ T cells. (A) CD3+CD8+ T cells were significantly increased in melanoma tissues of mice treated with CIM compared with PBS (n = 10). (C) The antitumor effects of CIM (1 µg/kg) was significantly reversed in CD8+ T-cell-depleted mice (black bar) compared with IgG controls (open bar) (n = 7). Depletion of CD8+ T cells (black bars) significantly reduced CIM-induced TNF-α (D) and IFN-γ (E) expression in melanoma tissue homogenates (n = 7). All data are expressed as mean ± SEM. Statistical differences were determined by either two-tailed Student's t test or one-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett post hoc analysis as appropriate.
