Evolutionary relationships demonstrate that the ParM family is more divergent than eukaryotic actins. The tree represents a bootstrap consensus tree inferred from 1000 replicate trees generated using the Neighbor-Joining method. The percentage of replicate trees in which the associated taxa clustered together in the bootstrap test is shown next to the branches. The branch lengths are proportional to the relative evolutionary distance, and the scale bar is in units of the number of amino acid substitutions per site. The GI numbers for the sequences and the sequence alignments used to generate this phylogram are provided in the supplemental material. Evolutionary analyses were conducted in MEGA4.
