A whole-organ magnetic resonance imaging score (WORMS) was used to semiquantitatively evaluate the images. Abnormalities were recorded using a WORMS-based threshold of 1 including Grade 1 abnormalities. The knee abnormalities did not change at the different time points, either for marathon runners or for controls
