No viable tumor cells after neoadjuvant chemotherapy = microscopic absence of viable tumor cells throughout the resection specimen in cases of pCR or the microscopic absence of viable tumor cells in some areas of the resection specimen in cases of pPR. Normal breast tissue = normal tissue adjacent to the known tumor site in the mastectomy specimens.
