Representative results of growth tests on solid minimal medium obtained with strains EK008 (gap1Δ), 32501d (gap1Δ ssy1Δ), 30788b (gap1Δ arg5,6), and FB097 (gap1Δ agp1Δ bap2Δ leu2Δ) transformed with the empty vector YCpFL38 (−), the pJOD10 (YCpGAL-GAP1-GFP) plasmid expressing the native permease (Gap1), or one of three derived plasmids encoding representative Gap1 mutants. Cells were incubated at 29°C for 4 to 7 days, depending on the nitrogen source.
