(A) Exposure to heat shock early in life does not extend C. elegansatx-3 mutants lifespan nor does it change the number of progeny when compared to wild type (B). (C) Atx-3 mRNA levels remain similar after a heat shock in C. elegans. No HS: no heat shock, 15′: 15 minutes of recovery at 20°C after the 2 h HS at 33°C, 30′: 30 minutes of recovery, 3 h–24 h: 3 hours-24 hours of recovery.
