Ensemble average groove widths with standard deviations for the 14R (+)- and 14S (–)-trans-anti-DB[a,l]P-N6-dA adducts and the unmodified duplex. Groove widths are the smallest phosphorus-phosphorus separations between the two strands across the minor and major groove. These widths are conventionally measured as the phosphorus atom center-to-center distances minus 5.8 Å to account for the van der Waals radii of the two phosphate groups (44, 66).
