Atf2− /− mutant mice were obtained as a result of Atf2+/− x Atf2+/− crosses. Atf2AA were the result of Atf2+/AA x Atf2+/AA crosses. Atf2Δneuron and Atf2Δepiblast resulted from Atf2f/f x Atf2f/+;nestin-Cre and Atf2f/f x Atf2f/+;meox2-Cre crosses, respectively. All animals were on a C57/Bl6 strain background. A minimum of 10 offspring litters were analysed for each knockout combination.
