Haplotype network of the 411 bp mitochondrial control region for the 30 cuckoo females inferred by our analyses. Each coloured circle represents one haplotype, the size shows the relative frequency of the haplotype in our sample and the colour represents the host race carrying that specific haplotype. The small open circles show intermediate haplotypes not found in our sample and the small filled circles represent number of nucleotide differences between the haplotypes. Red, green and blue colours denote corn bunting, great reed warbler and marsh warbler cuckoos respectively.
