Fig. 5 — Effects of prolonged (24 hour) exposure to acetaldehyde (200 µM) (A) and ethanol (100 mM) (E) as compared to control (C) on: (A) Aquaporin 9 mRNA and (B) Aquaporin 9 protein in mouse hepatocytes. The mRNA was determined by real-time polymerase chain reaction. The relative expressions of the cDNAs were normalized against β-actin DNA in the same samples. Aquaporin protein was determined by Western blot. The values were expressed as means ± SE of 6 samples each. *P<0.05 vs control.
