The prevalence of HD on haplogroup C is similar between East Asia and Europe. HD is far more prevalent in Europe (7.5/100 000), but a small fraction of the total number of CAG-expanded chromosomes occur on haplogroup C (2%). Despite the lower overall prevalence of HD, the prevalence of CAG expansion specifically on haplogroup C is similar in the East Asian populations.
