Motion of the hand during the entire stroke taken from the wheelchair propulsion simulation, which represents the average experimental propulsion data. During the push phase, the hand was in contact with the handrim (stroke angle of 71 degrees). During recovery, the hand followed the path indicated by the dotted line, with four changes in hand direction. These changes occurred in the anterior-posterior direction at 43 and 94 percent stroke and in the superior-inferior direction at 39 and 95 percent stroke.
