A, A Kaplan-Meier survival curve for dichotomous level of GDF-15 (125 pg/mL). B, A Kaplan-Meier survival curve for the dichotomous level of NT-proBNP (473 pmol/L) in subjects with SSc. Elevation of GDF-15 plasma levels above 125 pg/mL was associated with increased mortality in subjects with SSc (n = 54, P = .0021). There was no statistically significant difference in mortality between patients with NT-proBNP plasma levels above 473 pmol/L (n = 52, P = .3813).
