Incidence of rat and mouse ependymomas.

Rat ependymomas
Ward and Rice (1982) surveyed F344 rats and found that ependymomas comprised 4% of the total brain tumors recorded.
Maekawa et al. (1984) surveyed 692 F344/DuCrj and 377 Wistar rats and found no ependymomas diagnosed.
Krinke et al. (1985) surveyed 8,960 Sprague-Dawley rats and found 2 ependymomas recorded (2% total brain tumors).
Gopinath (1986) surveyed 5,395 Sprague-Dawley rats and found 1 ependymoma recorded in a male rat (1% total brain tumors).
Yamate et al. (1987) surveyed 3,410 F344 rats and found 2 ependymomas diagnosed (2% total brain tumors).
Giknis and Clifford (2000) surveyed 3,377 Sprague-Dawley rats and found no ependymomas diagnosed.
 Inveresk/Charles River Edinburgh Background incidences (1998–2009) surveyed 2,437 Sprague-Dawley rats and found 1 ependymoma diagnosed.a
Mouse ependymomas
Radovsky and Mahler (1999) surveyed 4,894 B6C3F1 mice from the NTP archives and found no ependymomas diagnosed.
Fraser (1986) surveyed 75,000 mice from the Edinburgh MRC Neuropathogenesis unit archives (strains: A2G/LacDk, VM/Dk, MB/Dk, PCD, C57BL/FaDk, LM/Dk, MM/Dk, SM/RrDk, BALB/c/LacDk, BRVR/SrDk, C3H/LacDk, BSC/Dk, DBA/2LacDk, NZB/LacDk, RIII/FaDk, VM, MB, IM) and found no ependymomas diagnosed.
Mikaelian et al. (2004) surveyed 9,284 mice from the Jackson Lab archives (strains C57BL6/J, 129P3/J, A/J, BALB/cByJ, BALB/cJ, C3H/HeJ, CBA/J, DBA/2J, HRS/J, SJL/L) and found no ependymomas diagnosed.
Giknis and Clifford (2000) surveyed 5360 Crl:CD-1 (ICR)BR Mice and found 1 ependymoma recorded in a female (1% total brain tumors).
