This is a composite image showing a femur superimposed on a chest radiograph; (b) artefact caused by a towel that was used to help in positioning a paediatric patient. Due to the wider dynamic range of CR comparing to conventional film-screen system, radiographic contrast from the towel is readily seen; (c) artefact resulting from dirt collected inside the light-guide in the CR reader leading to the formation of a bright horizontal line (near the bottom of the image).
