Mean effect sizes (and standard errors) for Experiments 1 and 2. Stimulus insets show the changes to the stimuli. In Experiment 1 participants mislocalized Gabors in the direction of motion by ∼0.34 degrees and experienced crowding for different motion directions, as if the stimuli were physically shifted by ∼0.41 degrees (light grey bars). In Experiment 2 there was no motion-induced mislocalization and a non-significant negative effect for crowding (dark grey bars).
