Index patients with central venous line (CVL)-related deep venous thrombosis were matched to control patients without venous thromboembolism based on age group, disease category, severity of illness score (Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 [PIM2]) and number of days in the intensive care unit (ICU) prior to CVL insertion.
