Figure 3. Cerebellar granule cell survival in vitro.

Primary cultures of granule cells isolated from the cerebellum were treated without or with 50 µM PIO or 5 µM PGJ for 24 h followed by addition of vehicle (VEH) or 110 mM ethanol (E) for 48 h. Cell counts of MAP2-stained neurons were performed from 4 replicate photomicrographs obtained from each of 4 replicate wells per treatment condition. Data was normalized to 100% survival in vehicle treated control cultures. Results shown are the mean ± SE of three independent experiments. Statistical analysis was performed with one-way ANOVA and the Bonferroni/Dunn post hoc test. [F (5,12) = 49.450, p <0.0001].
