Peptide coverage and phylogenetic position of large subunit MDH eCDSs. The data illustrate the specificity of the peptides detected for xoxF, a large subunit MDH found in genomes from the OM32 clade. RAxML was used to infer the phylogenetic tree from an alignment of full-length homologous amino-acid sequences from reference genomes. For each sequence in the tree, the colored bars show peptides detected by mass spectrometry. Amino acids are heat mapped according to the prevalence of the given residue at that position in the consensus sequence, with red indicating the most common and green indicating the least common amino acid. Gray indicates undetected residues.
