SRC-3 is involved in many cancer processes independent of nuclear receptor signaling. SRC-3 promotes cell cycle progression by coactivating E2F1 and activating Akt. SRC-3 up-regulates IGF-I and EGF signaling by phosphorylating Akt, EGFR and HER2, respectively, and induces tumorigenesis. SRC-3 inhibits apoptosis through activation of NF-ΚB and Akt signaling.
