Specific signaling pathways involved in the BDNF modulation of synaptic fatigue. The inhibitors were applied to p12–13 slices either alone or 60 min before BDNF application. In this and all other figures on synaptic responses to HFS, the slope of the fortieth EPSP in the train is presented as the percentage of the first EPSP slope, and the numbers associated with each column represent the number of recordings. In addition, controls were done for each set of slices. (A) The effect of the MAPK kinase inhibitor PD098059 (PD, 10 μm). (B) The effect of the PI3K inhibitors wortmannin (Wort., 0.5 μm) or LY294002 (LY, 30 μm) and the PLC-γ inhibitor U73122 (5 μm).
