Using cadaveric data, 10 intensity-modulated radiotherapy plans created to compare rectal radiation dose before and after spacer placement. Both (a) absolute and (b) relative rectal volume receiving ≥70 Gy (V70) significantly reduced (bars indicate 95% confidence intervals). Intensity-modulated radiotherapy plans treated prostate to 78 Gy (blue), prostate plus seminal vesicles to 78 Gy (green), and prostate plus seminal vesicles to 46 Gy with prostate cone-down to 78 Gy (red).
