Specific homing of LTZ tumor cells to PLN and MLN. A primary culture of insulinoma cells was fluorescently labeled with either DiI (for the triple transgenic mice) or DiO (3′,3′-dioctadecyloxacarbocyanine perchlorate for the double transgenic mice lacking L-selectin). An equal number of the two labeled cell populations was preincubated with either PBS or MEL-14 (17) before injection into the tail veins of wild-type mice. Half an hour after the i.v. injection, the mice were killed; PLN, MLN, and PP tissues were collected, sectioned, and examined with a fluorescent microscope.
