hog1as or pbs2as yeast cells were transformed with a STL1::LacZ reporter construct. Cells were grown to an OD₆₆₀ of 0.2, incubated with the inhibitors for 8 hours at a concentration of 5 µM, and β-galactosidase activity was assayed before (−NaCl) or after (+NaCl) osmotic stress (0.4 M NaCl for 30 min). β-galactosidase activity is presented in nanomols per minute per milligram. Data represent the mean of at least three independent experiments.
