Detection of episomes in SCID and C57BL/6 mice. To confirm the presence of the free ends in SCID mice and the absence of these ends in C57BL/6 (C57), DNA samples from C-AT- or PBS-injected mice (52 weeks after injection) were digested with XbaI (cuts the vector once) or BclI (cuts the vector twice). Southern blot analyses were performed as described in Fig. 3. To the left of the autoradiograph are diagrams of the predicted XbaI (X) and BclI (B) digestion patterns.
