Elongation of mitochondria is mediated by posttranslational modification of Drp1 and prevents mitophagy during nutrient starvation. Model shows the protective effect of tubulation on mitochondria upon nutrient deprivation. Tubulation of mitochondria is mediated through modifications of Drp1.
